Composite Veneers
Often used to improve the
appearance of your teeth and enhance your smile. As the name
indicates, Composite material is
bonded to an existing tooth. Unlike crowns, Composite
Veneers remove little, if any, of the original tooth.
|
Composite Veneers can be a good solution for: |
| |
Fixing or
repairing chipped or cracked teeth |
| |
Reducing unsightly
gaps or spaces between teeth |
| |
Hiding
discoloration or faded areas on the tooth's surface
|
|
 |
|
Composite Veneers have a certain advantages: |
| |
They
can be done in one appointment |
| |
Usually
does not require much tooth removal, if any at all |
| |
Their
shades can be matched and blended to your natural tooth color |
| |
They
can be contoured to give the desired shape and size for that
tooth |
| |
They
are less expensive than Porcelain Veneers |
|
The disadvantages are: |
| |
They
are not as durable and long-lasting as Porcelain Veneers or
Porcelain Crowns and will usually have to be replaced more
frequently |
| |
They
tend to stain more easily because the material is inherently
softer. Common foods and drinks such as coffee, tea, wine, and
even tobacco products can cause staining |
| |
Composite
Veneers may not be able to completely hide a natural tooth that
is dark |
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers
are thin "shells" that are typically used to change the shape
and/or color of your front teeth. Each veneer is customized for
you by a skilled lab technician. The lab process generally takes
a few weeks and while that takes place you will have temporary
veneers to protect your teeth. Once back from the lab, the
porcelain veneers are securely bonded to your teeth. Because
less tooth structure is removed, they are more conservative than
crowns and because they are made from porcelain they will not
retain stains like composite veneers.
|
Porcelain Veneers
can be a great way to achieve that "Perfect Smile" |
| Common
problems that veneers are used for: |
| |
Spaces between the
teeth |
| |
Broken or chipped
teeth |
| |
Unsightly, stained
or discolored teeth |
| |
Permanently
stained or discolored teeth |
| |
Crooked or
misshapen teeth |
|
|
 |

|
Porcelain Veneers are a great aesthetic
solution to your smile that may even help you avoid orthodontic
treatment. Subtle changes to your smile can be achieved with
porcelain veneers, and in most cases, veneer application is completed in
only two office visits.
